Ponte Vedra Inn & Club -Lagoon, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Ponte Vedra Beach is close to Jacksonville, Florida. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club has two 18-hole golf courses, The Ocean Course and The Lagoon.
The Ponte Vedra Lagoon Course first opened for play as a nine hole course in 1961. The "front nine" was designed by Robert Trent Jones. Sixteen years (1977) the "back nine opened for play. The back nine was designed by Joe Lee. In 2007 Bobby Weed restored and enhanced the layout.
The restoration included new tees, fairways and greens, routing changes on several holes, new turf standards, improved irrigation and drainage, and a greatly enhanced landscaping theme. The restoration branded the Lagoon Course with its own unique identity nicely complementing the Ocean Course.
The par 70 course is relatively short playing to a maximum distance of 6.022 yards. The course places a premium on accurate drives and thoughtful approaches. Water is definitely the dominant feature with lakes and lagoons challenging golfers on eleven holes. Tall pines, palms and oaks form the contours of this lushly landscaped course. Fairways are narrow and the greens are small and fast.
Blue tees: 6,022 yards.
White tees: 5,542 yards.
Green tees: 5,105 yards.
Red tees: 4,511 yards.

With water guarding some portion of all but four holes, this course is a very nice challenge for players of all levels. Most of them do have a bailout side, which makes it a bit more fair (than not having one) but the challenge remains. It's a relatively short course, playing less than 5600 yards, even from the back tees. Don't let that fool you, however. In addition to the water on 14 holes, there's enough bunkering both fairway and greenside, that any slip will challenge that part of your game. Want to stop in the Pro Shop at the turn? Isn't going to happen. It's not exactly Pebble Beach, but when you finish the front and head toward the tenth tee, you're still a long way from the clubhouse, so tee it up, finish the round and enjoy the experience.
